For us, the long term benefit of diet and exercise is keeping weekly calories down to something moderately "normal" and consistently burning off another 2,000 calories each week through master's running, cross training, and other aerobic exercise. The American Cancer Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Center for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health: They're all in fundamental agreement about the benefit of diet and exercise.Think about our recent past history. You don't have to go back many years - just a few generations - to find your ancestors picking potatoes, digging tarot root, and inviting the local chickens for dinner. Think about that! We don't get much exercise like that anymore. I can't remember the last time a frozen chicken make a break for freedom at the checkout counter. Food gathering and hunting just isn't what is used to be! Our bodies are designed for that kind of activity: regular and somewhat strenuous chicken-chasing exercise! This is at odds with what's really happening: the UN Population fund reports that 2008 will mark for the first time in human history more than half of human population will be living in urban environments. No wonder we are looking for the best diet exercise benefits! Here's a "top 10" list of exercise benefits:  - Reduced body fat and easier weight control

- Reduced depression and anxiety
- Reduced risk of colon and breast cancer
